The Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (CYCCA) would like to express its sincere gratitude to the late Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mrs Zeta Emilianidou, for all that she accomplished, including the implementation of the “Incentive Scheme for the Employment of Persons with Chronic Conditions”, which was an initiative of CYCCA and was successfully implemented under the auspices of the Cyprus Federation of Patient Associations (CyFPA) since 2016. In November 2015, the Minister welcomed us to her office with great willingness and understanding, listening carefully to our suggestions and concerns regarding people living with chronic conditions. As a result of her dedication to supporting others, this employment scheme was established, providing financial incentives to participating employers. Since its introduction in 2016, the scheme has given more than 300 people with chronic conditions the opportunity to gain employment, allowing them to demonstrate that their abilities and effectiveness are not defined by their medical condition.
