APPROXIMATELY 80 POSITIONS REMAIN AVAILABLE THROUGH THE MINISTRY OF LABOUR EMPLOYMENT SCHEME FOR PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC CONDITIONS!!!
The Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (CYCCA) would like to express its sincere gratitude to the late Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mrs Zeta Emilianidou, for all that she accomplished, including the implementation of the “Incentive Scheme for the Employment of Persons with Chronic Conditions”, which was an initiative of CYCCA and was successfully implemented under the auspices of the Cyprus Federation of Patient Associations (CyFPA) since 2016.
In November 2015, the Minister welcomed us to her office with great willingness and understanding, listening carefully to our suggestions and concerns regarding people living with chronic conditions. As a result of her dedication to supporting others, this employment scheme was established, providing financial incentives to participating employers. Since its introduction in 2016, the scheme has given more than 300 people with chronic conditions the opportunity to gain employment, allowing them to demonstrate that their abilities and effectiveness are not defined by their medical condition.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
A) The Scheme applies ONLY to unemployed individuals with chronic conditions who are interested in full-time or part-time employment.
B) The duration of the Scheme is 24 months.
C) The Scheme applies to individuals who are members of an association that is a registered member of the Cyprus Federation of Patient Associations (CyFPA). (Click here to view the member associations of CyFPA: www.cypatient.org)
For this reason, applicants are required to provide:
(a) A confirmation letter from the association of which they are members.
(b) A medical certificate from a physician confirming the applicant’s medical condition.
D) Once registered as unemployed, applicants may express interest in specific professions and positions of interest through a simple visit to the District Employment Offices of the Public Employment Service.
The Ministry has instructed staff at its District Employment Offices to monitor employer demand in relation to the availability of eligible patients and to facilitate communication between employers and applicants. It should be noted that the process becomes significantly faster and more straightforward when an interested applicant independently identifies a potential employer and both parties approach the Employment Office together.
