On 4 December 2014, the Cyprus Crohn’s and Colitis Association (CYCCA) held a press conference at Strovolos Municipal Hall to raise public awareness about Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) through the promotion of the work of Rafaella Hadjioannou from Empa Gymnasium.
Her project received distinction in the Pancyprian Student Competition for Posters, Photography and Video under the theme:
“Cleanliness in public sanitary facilities is half of our health…”
The artwork was transformed into a poster encouraging everyone to keep public restroom facilities clean, featuring the simple yet powerful slogan:
“At least think of the next person…”
The aim of the Association is to help the public recognize the importance of maintaining clean restroom facilities as a sign of social responsibility and civilization, while also highlighting that patients with chronic conditions who are receiving immunosuppressive treatments are particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases.
The poster was distributed to all schools in Cyprus, hospitals, medical centres, ministries, municipalities, universities, and other public institutions.
