On Monday, 21/11/2022, the Cyprus Crohn’s & Colitis Association (CYCCA), together with the George Psaras Children with Liver Diseases Association and Round Table, hosted a dinner in honour of Dr Babu Vadamalayan (Paediatric Gastroenterologist). Attending the dinner, alongside representatives of the two Associations, were Dr Panayiota Protopapa (Head of the Centre, Consultant Paediatrician), Dr Elena Savvidou (Paediatric Gastroenterologist), and Ms Angela Angeli (Senior Nursing Officer). Dr Babu Vadamalayan visits Cyprus at least three times a year from King’s College Hospital, England, and supports the Paediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Centre at Archbishop Makarios III Hospital & King’s College Hospital in Nicosia. The Centre operated from 2012 until 2018 at the Engomi Health Centre and, since 2018, has been based at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, where it provides daily medical care for children with liver and gastrointestinal diseases. Approximately 2,000 children with rare chronic liver conditions and gastrointestinal disorders are monitored at the Centre, with the invaluable assistance and support of Dr Panayiota Protopapa and Dr Elena Savvidou.
