Participation in the meeting of the House of Representatives’ Health Committee

MEMORANDUM 1. Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease Our Association was established with the aim of promoting the well-being of patients suffering from Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, as well as supporting their families. 2. Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease As you may already know, these two diseases are incurable, cause a wide range of problems for patients, and may lead to bowel removal surgery or even death. 3. Consequences of the Diseases During periods of flare-up, these diseases affect patients’ education, professional, social, and family life, often leading to social exclusion. 4. Problems Health a) Specialization of a Pediatrician at King’s College Hospital in Gastroenterology We were pleased to participate in the signing of the technical agreement between the Ministry of Health and King’s College Hospital for the establishment of the Department of Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Makarios Hospital / King’s College Hospital. The key provisions of the agreement included: The recruitment of a pediatric gastroenterologist in 2014. The specialization of a pediatrician in gastroenterology for three years at King’s College Hospital.
