On Sunday, 18 May 2014, the award ceremony of the Cyprus-wide Student Competition for Posters, Photography, and Video was held in the packed hall of the former Strovolos Municipal Building. The theme of the competition was: “Cleanliness in Public Restrooms is Half Our Health...” The competition’s primary objective was to highlight the importance of hygiene. Environmental cleanliness, as well as cleanliness in personal spaces such as restrooms, plays a crucial role in reducing the spread of infectious diseases. Maintaining clean private and public toilets, ensuring regular disinfection, providing an adequate number of facilities, and guaranteeing easy access to public restrooms are all essential factors in protecting public health. They are also indicators of a society’s level of culture and civic responsibility. Participants were invited to choose one of the following topics: Keeping toilets clean to help reduce infectious diseases. Immediate access to public and private toilets for patients living with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD).
