The Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (PA.SY.E.K.K.), in collaboration with the online language-learning community kounuşma, offers free beginner-level Turkish language seminars (CEFR A1 level) exclusively for members of the Association. Individuals who wish to become members are welcome to complete the membership form in order to benefit from these Turkish language seminars.
Who is the programme for?
The programme is intended for adults aged 18 and over. The seminars aim to provide a first introduction to the Turkish language, regardless of participants’ educational background or professional/academic field. The programme will cover learning up to A1 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR) and will introduce participants to both the structure of the language and the cultural elements that emerge through language study.
The programme will run for six months, from September 2025 to March 2026. The teaching approach is communicative, with an emphasis on spoken language. Through the use of modern educational tools, such as multimodal texts and audiovisual material (e.g. videos and images), as well as engaging activities (such as quizzes and crosswords), the programme aims to create an enjoyable and effective learning environment.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the seminars, participants are expected to:
(a) become familiar with the structure of the Turkish language,
(b) explore the cultural elements that emerge through language study and their connections with Greek,
(c) gain the ability to sit for A1 language proficiency examinations for official certification,
(d) use the language confidently for everyday communication.
Basic Participation Requirements
To participate, applicants must:
- Be active members of the Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, or register through the membership form.
- Have internet access.
- Be familiar with Zoom.
- Have a personal email address.
- Possess basic computer skills.
Programme Delivery Methodology
The programme will be delivered through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous distance learning over a six-month period. Specifically, participants will attend an online tutorial session every Friday from 18:30 to 20:00 via Zoom.
Participants will then have access to learning materials uploaded to Google Classroom (presentations, audiovisual material, games, etc.), which they will study independently and complete the related exercises. Self-assessment will be available through short online quizzes at the end of each unit.
