The President of CYCCA (Cyprus Crohn's & Colitis Association) participated on Tuesday, 21 July, in a dialogue between the Honourable Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mrs. Zeta Emilianidou, and volunteer organizations, following an invitation from the Minister through the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council.

During the discussion, the President of CYCCA raised the issue of the difficulties faced by people with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, as well as individuals living with other chronic illnesses, in finding employment due to high unemployment rates. He called on the Minister to establish support schemes for employers who hire people with chronic conditions.

Such initiatives would provide patients with the opportunity to demonstrate that professional expertise, skills, and personal qualities are what truly matter, rather than any underlying health condition.

The Minister expressed her willingness to meet with CYCCA and discuss the proposal in more detail.
