On Tuesday, 12 April 2022, the Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (CYCCA) held a meeting at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, at the Paediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Centre. Representing CYCCA were Mr Yiannis Antoniadis (Vice President) and Ms Athina Spanou (Administrative Officer). Representing the Centre were Dr Panayiota Protopapa (Head of the Centre, Consultant Paediatrician), Dr Elena Savvidou (Paediatric Gastroenterologist), Ms Angela Angeli (Nurse), and Ms Dimitra Solla (Secretary).

CYCCA and the Paediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Centre have maintained a longstanding collaboration.

The topics discussed included:

• The number of children with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease receiving care at the Centre.
• The treatments available and currently administered.
• The process of patient admission to the Centre, ongoing monitoring, and transition to adult gastroenterology services upon reaching adulthood.
• The new facilities that have housed the Paediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Centre over the past 2.5 years.
• The acceptance by both doctors of our invitation to participate as speakers at the events organised by CYCCA in Limassol and Nicosia on 14 and 19 May 2022 respectively, in recognition of World Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Day.
