The Employment Scheme for People with Chronic Conditions is a highly successful programme that has been launched for the third time. Its purpose is to encourage employers to hire individuals with chronic conditions, providing people with chronic illnesses—who belong to vulnerable groups—the opportunity to enter the labour market and society as equal members, demonstrating that they are equally productive and capable of contributing to the profitability and growth of businesses.

Brief Description of the Scheme

Scheme Title: New Incentive Scheme for the Employment of Persons with Chronic Conditions 2021, with a two-year employment duration.

Budget: Two million euros (€2,000,000) – Increased to Four million euros (€4,000,000).

Implementation Period: Applications have been accepted since 8 November 2021 and will continue until the available budget is exhausted or until the termination of the Scheme is announced. The scheme remains active and still has 200 employment positions available!

CyFPA encourages all individuals with chronic conditions who meet the eligibility criteria to participate in this scheme, proving that a chronic condition is not a barrier to employment.

The employment scheme for people with chronic conditions was an initiative of the Cyprus Association for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (CYCCA).
